Fields Corner Station is a major intermodal station which serves as a transfer point between the subway’s Red Line and several bus routes. It also provides direct access from Dorchester’s commercial center to greater Boston. As one of three stations being renovated concurrently by Cambridge Seven, Field’s Corner was completely reconfigured to bring the buses to grade; to improve Charles Park; and to create covered routes, accessible walkways, and clearly identified entries from both main cross streets. Its design also provides for a new fare lobby below the existing Red Line track, new vertical circulation to meet ADA requirements, and new canopy roof structures over the newly extended platforms. Bus traffic has been rerouted to allow right-side platform drop-off and pick-up, and the parking lot was upgraded for safety and security.
