Serving over 20,000 patrons daily, the new Ashmont Station is the southern terminus to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s Red Line and the intermodal interchange with the Mattapan High Speed trolley and several major urban bus routes. Built in the 1920’s, Ashmont Station is being completely redesigned to restore the community’s pride and identity, and to provide for enhanced operational services. The new design includes a reconfigured viaduct, new bus routing and site circulation, head houses at Peabody Square and the trolley, site improvements, and new lighting and signage. A new mixed-use, transit-oriented development parcel of 42,800 square feet has been created in the process.
