Located in Newburyport, MA, the complex consists of a Visitor Services and Environmental Education component with auditorium, exhibits, retail and classrooms; an Operations Center; and Administrative Offices. Cambridge Seven’s expansion of the Refuge's environmental education programs uses the interior galleries and project site as an interpretive educational program. Outdoor exhibit elements will be linked and sequenced to indoor exhibits, inviting visitors to explore in an informal and intuitive environment. Sustainable design elements include the use of geo-thermal heat pumps, natural ventilation, solar screening, and structural insulated panel technology for the wall systems.
