Cambridge Seven Associates has been commissioned to conduct a concept design study to evaluate the feasibility of an Aquarium as one component for the proposed 220,000 sf Miami Museum of Science and Planetarium in downtown Miami. Architecturally, the design presumes an interior atrium circulation space within the museum proper, offering tantalizing glimpses into different marine environments at each level of the museum. Beginning on the third floor, visitors will pass by the Everglades habitat, with its extension onto the roof decks and then through the Sea Grasses. Descending to level two, visitors find themselves in the rich, colorful world of the Coral Reef. Finally, moving deeper to level one, they discover the Open Ocean.
