The Robins Nature and Visitor Center establishes a new entry to the 100-acre historic estate and park at Maymont. The 29,000 sf building's stepped gabled sheds to allude to Virginia's vernacular architecture. Clerestory windows bring light into the interior spaces and diminish the height of the building's mass. The building is divided according to its three primary functions: Visitor Center, Nature Center, and Education wing. The Visitor Center includes an orientation space, exhibits on the mansion and outdoor attractions, and visitor amenities. The Nature Center provides hands-on environmental education for school children. Cambridge Seven partnered with Bond Comet Westmoreland + Hiner.
