The new Discovery Place program and master plan is designed to re-establish Discovery Place’s international reputation for innovation in programs and exhibits. Working with the Discovery Place core team and feasibility consultants as well as City of Charlotte officials, the planning and design efforts are intended to support new directions for Discovery Place operations as well as a radically new business model which enhances experimentation and learning within the museum. The downtown site will be transformed to accommodate new galleries as well as visitor amenities and future expansion space. A major re-crafting of the exterior and the main entry will energize the museum and solidify Discovery Place’s prominent role as a leading cultural institution in Charlotte.
