Designed by Cambridge Seven as a contemporary cross of a traditional wood pavilion and glass conservatory, Wonders of Wildlife mirrors the interconnectedness of the outside world, where interpretive exhibits and naturalistic habitats flow seamlessly into one another. The 92,000 sf museum, clad in stone and cedar siding, appears to grow out of nature. Clerestory windows bring light into the central space, which encloses a 300-foot long slice of a Missouri habitat. The immersive environment orchestrates a progression of varying experiences, from walking in the woods to exploring a cave. The exhibits incorporate dioramas, history, and a multitude of interactive exhibits.
