As part of Discovery Place's large-scale renovation, Cambridge Seven designed the new "World Alive" exhibit to educate visitors about the biodiversity of our planet. At the entrance, an interactive 6' diameter globe with lighting and audio effects highlights important eco-regions, while the photographic mural on the surrounding walls contains hundreds of photos showing the beautiful and bizarre range of living things. In the Explore More Collections Gallery, visitors learn about the importance of natural history collections, while in the Explore More Life Gallery, visitors experience a high-tech marine science lab outfitted with an array of interconnected equipment that provides educators with the tools to conduct exciting classroom science activities. World Alive also includes exhibits focused on the North Carolina Coast and an updated living rainforest exhibit.
