Homart Development commissioned Cambridge Seven to design this 900,000 sf, two-story regional shopping mall located on a 63-acre site north of Hartford, Connecticut, featuring six anchor stores, 142 retail shops, restaurants, a food court, and parking for 4,500 cars. White, translucent fabric canopies, a distinctive aspect of the design by Cambridge Seven, lead shoppers into the mall. Inside, indoor streets link the stores with two grand skylit court spaces topped by glass pyramids. Bathed in natural light, the courts in the Pavilions at Buckland Hills are focal points where shoppers meet.
