The City of Jacksonville, North Carolina commissioned Cambridge Seven Associates to design a unique facility devoted to education, entertainment, and environmental awareness. The master plan creates a synergy between the elements of Sturgeon City including the Park, a possible Museum and an Environmental Education Center. The aquatic focus of the 43,111 sf Center will be the Sturgeon and other fauna and flora sharing ancient lineage and habitats found in the Coastal Region of the Carolinas. Cambridge Seven’s architectural design concept is based upon the dramatic reuse of the wastewater treatment plant, whose tanks total nearly 1.7 million gallons in capacity.
