The goal of the Tim and Jeanne's Dining Commons expansion at Westfield State University was to add 300 seats and improve the connection between the Commons and the University Quad. C7A's design balances a highly functional, expanded seating area with an exterior architectural expression that is striking within the context of the campus. Cambridge Seven's design creates a more welcoming portal for the community while strengthening the presence of the Dining Commons along the Quad by infilling the existing stepped elevation and creating a new lantern-like structure that unifies the facade. The new addition is taller than the existing building, allowing light to pour directly into the Dining Commons and expanding views out onto the campus.
