Having completed the master plan for the UMass Lowell South Campus, C7A was retained by the Division of Capital Asset Management to design the new Health and Social Sciences Building, the first new building on the south campus in more than 30 years. This 65,000 sf building, designed to meet LEED Silver Plus Standards, will house three academic departments for Nursing, Psychology and Criminal Justice and five general purpose classrooms for use by all departments on the South Campus. It is designed around a large, rooftop glazed atrium space that introduces natural daylight into the center of the building and creates a large lobby on the ground floor to be used by the University for special gatherings and functions.
