C7A is designing the new 75,000 gsf Marine Technology and Life Sciences
Seawater Research Building for the Rosenstiel School of Marine and
Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami. The MTLSS building
(designed to achieve LEED Gold certification) will serve as a new
gateway to the campus and the cornerstone for the entire master plan.
This unique facility will house two distinct but interconnected
components: the Marine Life Science Center and the
SUrge-STructure-Atmosphere INteraction (SUSTAIN) research facility. The
SUSTAIN lab will house two state of the art wave and wind tanks, which
will allow the modeling of hurricane conditions, while also allowing
researchers to model currents, winds, subsurface conditions, and other
environmental conditions.
