The first phase of the University Power Center, designed by Cambridge Seven Associates, was strategically located on a prominent site between the University's main campus and the Medical Center campus, designed to serve the long-term needs of both. The $105 million second phase of the Power Center, also being designed by Cambridge Seven, consists of chiller and cooling tower capacity necessary to produce 20,000 tons of chilled water, as well as a new 48 mega-watt co-generation plant accommodating two combustion turbines with heat recovery boilers and a steam turbine generator.
